Kansas City’s Hidden Gem – Restless Spirits

Share

Hello and Happy Second Day of “Blogmas!”

Today’s post is about a hidden Kansas City emerald gem (especially for you Northlanders) and Bryce’s and my new hangout spot.

Oh, you need to check out Restless Spirits Distillery in Northtown next to Chicken N Pickle. It is tucked into the parking lot, and the moment you walk into their door, be ready to be greeted with melodic Irish music and the whiff of incredible whiskey.

You have probably noticed their products in stores before (the bottles are literally gorgeous works of art), but like me you might not have realized that they are a local Kansas City company. Thank you, Tyler Kingston (another Northtown hidden gem) for enlightening me.

Story time: On Black Friday my Mom and I went into Tyler Kingston to shop, and they were handing out complimentary Whiskey Chai Lattes. When we checked out, I asked about the whiskey they were using and little did I know that it was the brand that I ALWAYS look at while Bryce grabs his stuff at HyVee. Not joking when I say that I have admired the branding and design of their bottle at least 5 times before seeing it at Tyler Kingston.

The best part was when the guy checking us out told us that it was LOCAL and DOWN THE STREET.

Music to my ears.

Obviously, we had to go check it out… I didn’t even make it through the dang doors without stating to my family, “This is going to be my new favorite spot, ya know.”

Within seconds of entering, the spirit of the Irish greeted me, and I felt like I was back in my favorite pub in Limerick. Traditional Irish music was playing by a live band, the strong scent of whiskey lingered, leaving with me a warm feeling that connected all my love and memories of Ireland.

Here are some of the facts about Restless Spirits Distillery:

For a dollar donation you can fill a container with pretzels or Lucky Charms cereal (ha ha ha). Restless Spirits Distillery is currently collecting for Toys for Tots.  At the time I visited, the donation earned you a free cocktail.  My Mom had the Snow Globe cocktail, and she absolutely loved it.

I notice that the distllery offers cocktail classes.  Hopefully I will be able to partake in one in the near future.

Restless Spirits has a lovely bar and seating perfect for taking a break after holiday shopping.  They have a gift shop nook that has everything from their prize bottles to shot glasses, sweatshirts, books, coffee,  and even bottle openers.  I did a little Christmas shopping while there.

If you happen to enter the distillery on a day when the Irish band is playing, then truly you have won the lottery with the sounds and tastes of the Emerald Isle.

Here’s to new adventures and to a Restless Spirit in all of us!  Slainte!
