Happy New Year Loves!
Something is telling me that 2019 is going to be a year full of pure magic, love, and a lot of hard work.
Being a firm believer in superstitions, I have always thought that where you start your New Year is a nice representation of what the upcoming year will hold for you. Luckily I had the chance to kick off 2019 at Power & Light in downtown Kansas City. This was the first year since Bryce and I have been dating that we didn’t spend NYE together so I honestly wasn’t planning on doing anything that night. However my stars aligned and the most incredible opportunity came my way. I was asked to promote PNL and KC Live Block’s NYE’s celebration and attend it with one of my best friends.
We brought in the new year with style and had the time of our lives. It was absolutely stellar with 200,000 square feet in which to party, 10, 000 party favors, 9000 glasses of champagne, and over 5000 people attending. The best part of the event was meeting new people, running into friends that I haven’t seen in a very long time, and getting glimpses of our Chief’s quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, and his beautiful girlfriend. For those of you who are big Travis Kelce fans … yes, he was there as well. The ball dropped at midnight just like I was in Time Square. For those wondering, Bryce and I “FaceTimed” at midnight. Not just once but twice because of time zones (love him).
My goals for 2019:
1. Be More Confident & Know My Worth
I have always struggled with finding my confidence, but this truly is MY year. No more will I act as a stomping ground and beat myself up for things I can’t control. I’m going to OWN myself!
2. Don’t Settle
If something doesn’t seem right, feel right, I’m not going to settle and do it just to get by.
3. Travel, TRAVEL, Travel
This will always be a goal of mine! This year I am desperately dreaming of NYC and possibly Italy…
4. Make More Time For The Things I Love
Instead of spending so much time scrolling on my phone, I’m going to get back into old hobbies like sewing, making collages, and photography. I miss doing all of these things and how much joy they brought me! I also need to make more time for the gym … (we will get there eventually).
5. Inspire Others
My blog was intended to be a source for others to find inspiration or to have a new perspective on life. I want to continue to share my passions with everyone and document my growth, my struggles, and my day-to-day life.
Tips:
Writing goals down makes them seem more real and more attainable. It’s like throwing your idea out into the world and watching it come back to you. I suggest you write down what you are dreaming about for your future — even if you are quickly scratching it down on a grocery receipt, put it down so you can read it.
Another idea that I would love to do is from Christina Anstead (Flip or Flop)
She kept a little mason jar with her and her husband’s accomplishments written on pink sticky notes from the entire year. Last night they opened the jar and reflected on how far they came. Bryce may not know it yet, but we are so going to do this! Affirmation on what we accomplish as individuals and as a couple is important for growth. If you aren’t into putting your accomplishments in a jar, then please load them into a cup, bandaid container or whatever you have with your goals and read them January 1, 2020.
I’m wishing all of you the happiest 2019 and may all your dreams become realities. Let’s make some changes in ourselves so we can give more to others in the new year.
Much love!
