A Wedding At Playa Mujeres!

Share

Hi Loves,

It has been a minute since I have written a travel blog. I’m so excited to see the world opening up.

Recently, I went to Mexico for the first time ever and wanted to share my experience along with a few tips and tricks to help you! This blog will not be a full guide of all things to do in Cancun, Mexico because if I’m being honest, we spent most of our time at the resort. However, you will find information about staying at Dreams Playa Mujeres and what the destination wedding experience was like for me, as a guest. I’ve received a couple messages about the resort, so I thought it might be helpful to put together a blog post. A few people who messaged me are actually getting married there — congratulations to you guys!!! Can you please help me plan my wedding? Haha.

Trip Agenda

If you are planning on having your wedding at Dreams or Secrets, here is an itinerary from the one we attended. Screenshot this so you have it for later!

Friday: Arrive. Have a family dinner and go dancing at the resort nightclub.

Saturday: Open Day. Bryce and I started our day with a quick workout, then swam with dolphins at the resort. Later that evening was a cocktail party for the entire wedding group.

Sunday: Open Day. We hung out by the pool all day long and played beach volleyball. We then had a wedding group dinner that evening.

Monday: Wedding Day. Bryce and I went with his aunt and uncle to a cigar shop in Cancun and then grabbed lunch. The wedding was from 5pm to Midnight.

Tuesday: Open Day. We hung out by the pool, got severely sunburned and rode jet-skis. Later that night, we had a farewell dinner with the wedding party.

Wednesday: Travel Day Home.

Resort Information

We stayed at Dreams Playa Mujeres. Next door is Secrets Playa Mujeres! Secrets is its sister resort and for adults only. That’s where you can find the nightclub and a few more upscale restaurants. We ended up using the pool at Secrets just because the crowd was a little more our speed. Both resorts had amazing pools however with swim-up bars.

From what we heard through the grapevine is that Dreams is a newer resort, so the rooms are a lot nicer than those at Secrets. Secrets is a short 5 minute walk or a 2 minute golf car ride. It is easy to go back and forth between the two resorts.

If you are planning on getting married at Dreams, you are going to love it. While we were there, a wedding was happening each day and they all seemed to run seamlessly. The team at Dreams runs a well-oiled machine and makes sure to check in the day before the wedding so everyone is on board. The wedding we attended was beautiful and so unique.

My *Essentials* Packing List

  • Aloe. Lots of aloe. Even more than you would think. The sun in Mexico is no joke. I think everyone there had a sunburn for at least one day. Bryce and I came home peeling!
  • Sunscreen. Lots of sunscreen. You will need it and it is so expensive to buy at the resort.
  • Snacks that you can eat later at night. There is only one place at the resort that stays open late and they didn’t have many options. I would definitely bring some snacks with you just in case you get the late-night munchies.
  • Hats. It was so windy at the resort. I wore my hair back or put a hat on almost every day. A hat will also help to protect your head and scalp from getting sunburned.
  • Lotion. Bryce and I forgot lotion at home and they didn’t have any at the resort. We ended up buying some from the store, but it was pretty expensive. Your skin will dry out from the water and sun, so make sure to pack plenty.

I hope this helps if you are traveling to this gorgeous destination. I would give anything to click my heels and return there right now. Enjoy your stay and feel free to message me with any questions.

Until next time, Spread Kindness.
